What began as a bespoke table lamp for the restaurant at London’s Design Museum has grown into one of the most recognizable lighting silhouettes of the 21st century.
First launched by FLOS in 2018, the Bellhop by British design duo Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby was immediately lauded for its friendly, mushroom-like profile and its ability to cast a soft, diffused pool of light across tables.
Today, that same sense of warmth and mobility breaks through the walls of the home. Meet the Bellhop Unplugged—a robust, outdoor-ready evolution of a modern classic.

A Contemporary Candle
“Bellhop was born from the desire to design an extremely flexible lamp, a simple object able to accompany people through the different moments of the day. Its light creates a soft, intimate atmosphere; in fact, we have always imagined it as a sort of contemporary candle: a discreet presence that moves naturally through a space.” — Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby
The Bellhop Unplugged retains the soul of this concept. A ring of LED light along its edge creates a soft, even glow that avoids the harsh glare often associated with portable outdoor lighting. It is atmospheric and inviting, transforming any terrace or garden into an extension of the living room.

Engineered for the Elements
Transitioning a beloved interior object to the outdoors requires meticulous engineering. The new Bellhop Unplugged features an IP54 protection rating, making it highly resistant to dust and water splashes. Whether placed beside a swimming pool or left out during an unexpected evening drizzle, the Bellhop remains secure.

Rechargeable via a USB-C connection, it offers a remarkably long battery life designed to outlast the longest of dinner parties. Furthermore, the battery itself is replaceable, underscoring FLOS's commitment to sustainable, long-lasting product design.
An integrated dimmer allows users to adjust light intensity and cycle between three distinct color temperatures, ensuring the mood is always perfectly calibrated to the moment.
New Finishes for 2026
To celebrate its new outdoor-ready status, FLOS has introduced two stunning new finishes to the Bellhop family for 2026: Glossy Black and Glossy Green.
These highly polished, reflective surfaces create a striking contrast against natural garden textures and raw architectural materials like concrete and stone.

These new additions seamlessly join the existing beloved color palette, which includes Red Brick, Blue Grey, White, and Yellow, giving designers and homeowners ultimate flexibility to match or contrast their exterior palettes.
